The Cosby Show

I grew up on The Cosby Show. It was and still is my most favourite sitcom of all time. I loved everything about it even when I was too young to even fully understnad the jokes because they were either stuff that only Americans would know or because they were too complicated to get. But I loved watching them over and over again. We had them recorded onto tape when they were showing on channel 4 back in the say. Those tapes were my companion whilst at uni...they kept me company and reminded me of home I guess.

You see I'm a sucker for comedies...I just wanna laugh really. So much goes on in a day and not enough of that time is spent laughing. As Sebastian R N Chamfort once said, "The most wasted day of all is that during which we have not laughed." I agree whole-heartedly! I hardly watch TV, I do not know what time or days of the week Eastenders is on. Right now i only turn the TV to watch The Apprentice which I am really egtting into now other than that the TV only comes on when I watching DVDs and they always tend to be sitcoms bar Sex and the City which is my sisters and therefore I only get to see when she back in LDN (by the way, hurry back soon!).

I was kindly given Friends series 9 and 10 (the last 2 basically) and I have played them out. I'm not bothered about that though, when I love something I am loyal to it! But I don't have a VCR and so cannot watch my old Cosby tapes. Another freind of mine told me of a site that I could download the first 2 seasons from. I have now downloaded the entire first series and have watched them nearly everyday since. I didn't see any of the first series except for one that I remembered so it's all new to me. I am so so happy. No one but my sister gets how deep my love goes for this show. I trully believe that this how has left an indelible legacy on black people and TV sitcoms. It paved the way for black situation comedy. It was wholesome TV. We don't have a lot of that on TV today. Like most kids that watched it, when my mum would get on my nerves I wished that I was a part of that family.

I'm older now and watching them back I find myself laughing at the jokes instead of just the funny expressions because I couldn't undestand what they were saying. I also have noticed the fashion. In almost every episode I see something that I am in love with and want to bring into my wardrobe, hairstyles I want to try out etc. We know that the Bible is right where it says that there's nothing new under the sun. And this is true of fashion. Watching these episodes just bring it into perspective though. There's so many inspirations in the shows that I had to start taking shots of them so I can refer back to them!

Love...the knotted belt

Love...the art deco necklace, stunning. Also like the complimenting colours of blue and yellow

This dress is beautiful, I want one for myself...seriously. It may have to be my next DIY project

Love...the tie; the fabric the design...anyone know what the name for this style of tie is?

I love her hairstyle and those earrings...oh and isn't she beautiful??

I apparently look like when I was younger...no, I will not put up pics to compare!

Clare ALWAYS had her nails painted in red...classic

Another hair style I plan to do...hope it looks as cute on me as it does on Rudy!

(Apologies for the image heavy post, and this only a small fraction of all the shots I have stored on the computer! It's taken everything in me to not post anymore!!)
