Finders Keepers

My mum is a hoarder. Point blank. A straight up hoarder. It's actually something that I pray over whole-heartedly as I really do not want to emulate that when I get my own place or when married. But for as much as I hate it, many a treasure has been unearthed in the mounds of my mothers' room.

So much treasure in fact that my sister has had enough of the booty I've accumulated. Before my current job, I was out of work for a good couple of years. I know that I do not need to spell out the problems that this causes; no money = no purchase power = sad times. Being able to find some 'new' pieces from my mum's stuff helped me get through it all and I truly appreciate it even more so now that I do have a job.

When packing for my latest excursion to Barbados, I really didn't want to buy anything new. Going from not having any money to having it (not in bucket fulls but enough for the pocket) has been hard as I now don't feel too good about buying just anything. I knew that I wanted to wear mostly dresses too which I didn't have in abundance as I have been hiding my pins in jeans for the majority of my adult years. But favour shone on me in the form of a 'Ghana must go' or market bag to those who are not familiar with that term. It was packed full of my mother's clothing from yesteryear and to my delight loads of dresses among other bits.

My mother doesn't hoard clothing but a little bit of everything else except shoes sadly. What's great with finding these items of clothing is when I see them in use in photos of my mother or father back in the day. Now that's what I call true environmentally friendly fashion.

May have to set up an eBay shop and create some streams of income.
